*    Experience: 19 years in Academia and Industry

*     In 1997-1999 I joined the Electromagnetic and Photonic Engineering Group of the Signal Theory and Communications Department (ETSETB, UPC, Barcelona, Spain) as a doctorate student. My current research interests were fractal and wideband printed antennas.

 

*     Senior Researcher at Sistemas Radiantes F. Moyano Madrid, Spain fall 1998. I was involved in the design of a Dual-Frequency Dual-Polarized Fractal-Shaped microstrip patch array for GSM900 and GSM1800 communications systems. 

 

*     Partner and R&D Manager at Fractus, Barcelona, Spain Dec-1999-Jule 2017. My activities were Research, Innovation and Product/Patent Development.

 

·       I have directed many research and innovation projects at Fractus resulting in new antenna technologies (patents – see the list in this web) and products (see some of them at http://www.fractus.com/index.php/fractus/documentation/).

·       My expertise is also helpful for Patent Prosecution and Patent Infringement Analysis.

*     R&D Manager at Fractus, Republic of Korea. September 2003-June 2004. I was also assigned to Fractus in South Korea (Seoul) to head up the research team. One of my main tasks was to provide training, education and development of the team’s core competency, and to provide R&D vision to address the rapidly growing mobile device market. Under this period, the company Fractus had secured major contracts with companies such as Samsung, LG, Bellwave to name a few.

On one hand, I was leading the design and development of miniature and multiband antennas for handset phones. I have been leading an interdisciplinary engineering Korean team (electrical and mechanical engineers).On the other hand, I was in charge of setting up the technology group. In Korea, I directed handset antenna projects for Samsung, LG, Bellwave, Innostream, Innolinx, EzzeTech, and Pantech-Curitel mobile-phone companies. From June 2004 to May 2006 I have been supporting Fractus-Korea R&D activities as well as handset antenna product development.

Back in 2007, after a creative research project at the technology company Fractus (Barcelona, Spain), Dr. Jaume Anguera and Dr. Aurora Andújar invented a new and disruptive antenna technology called Ground Plane Booster Antenna Technology (commercially known as Virtual Antenna Technology). This resulted in many patents, papers published, conferences, thesis, catalyzing the creation of a new company: Fractus Antennas to commercialize the booster-based antenna technology. Nowadays, antenna boosters are integrated in many wireless devices around the world. The background of this webpage is inspired in the first commercial ground plane booster ever.
